1 Making changes and decisions: verb noun collocations

This is an older exercise. But it’s always been engaging and interesting. So the audio has been improved and video added. Also, new related exercises have been added (see below).

2 Making decisions introduction

One of the fascinating things about prompt engineering is that it takes you far ahead of where you used to be able to go. I used to only be able to think of one exercise at a time and by the time I was done with that exercise, I was exhausted. Now, I’ve found that I’m thinking of 3 exercises at a time, and thinking about which 3 exercises work best together for my students. For an elementary class, at the moment, I like classifying, true/false statements and collocations.

3 Fears and phobias

This is another engaging and fascinating topic that has been improved and updated with new exercises. Since prompt engineering has made it so easy to create multiple choice quizzes to match virtually any specifications, I use them all the time. I’ve discovered that picture/vocabulary matching and multiple choice can work really well together.

4 Fears and phobias: ranking and collocations

Following on from the ideas above about prompt engineering, I’ve also found that ranking and collocations activities are 2 of my favorites. They often throw up surprising and inspiring ideas.

5 Fears and phobias grammar

Ok, this is a bit more tedious, but one of the problems I encountered when teaching this topic was the complicated nature of the grammar related to fears and phobias. The problems include: parts of speech, ed/ing adjectives and the prepositions used after “fears and phobias” vocabulary. Oh, but of course, with prompt engineering/designing, you can create an exercise to address each of these problems.
