First impressions role plays and listening
Role plays + past tense + vaccines + branding
1 First impressions (woman)
This is a listening/speaking exercise for English language learners to talk about personality and first impressions. It’s also useful for practicing the past tense as it is a story telling exercise. This exercise focuses on a woman. Students look at the pictures and try to create a story about how they got to know this woman. Or, the exercise can be used as a listening activity. Students listen to the audio and fill in the answers.
2 First impressions (man)
This is another first impressions role play exercise. This exercise focuses on a man. As above, the exercise can be used to try to create a story or role play about how they got to know this man. Or again, the exercise can be used as a listening activity.
3 Elementary past tense vocabulary dictation
This is my favorite exercise for introducing vocabulary. The exercise is not new, but the audio is. I use this technique a lot for online classes. If you listen to the audio, it will become clear how this exercise works.
4 Inventing a vaccine to save the world
This is a reading comprehension exercise about the people who invented a vaccine for the coronavirus.
5 Branding and marketing vocabulary and common expressions
This is a business English exercise focusing on brand and marketing vocabulary.
