Creating up-to-date lessons
This post focuses on the topic of “hybrid work”. It’s another in a series of lessons focusing on topics that are extremely relevant to students lives right now. I just taught it this week and it’s a really engaging topic. Every student has strong opinions and ideas about aspects of hybrid work.
1 Hybrid work vocabulary
2 Hybrid work dialogue
3 Hybrid work language exercises
4 Expressing opinions about hybrid work
This format for a vocabulary/picture/expressing opinions exercise continues to impress me. It’s almost always an enjoyable teaching experience.
5 Hybrid work pronunciation exercises
6 Hybrid work vocabulary - personalized questions
I often used personalized questions to make vocabulary more relatable for students. In this case, I was having trouble getting help from GPT4 until it suddenly came up with this format, which is pretty cool.
7 Expressing opinions about shopping (elementary)
I’m teaching an wide range of abilities this term. This includes a class of Chinese students who are at fairly low levels, especially in listening/speaking. The shopping exercises here worked very well with them.
